KACCO builds the capacity of 50 producers in Ihusi: The KACCO Cooperative, with support from the ACRA/Root Capital program, organized a two-day training session in Ihusi and Munanira on Farmer Field Schools (FFS) and sustainable agricultural productivity.
On October 14–15, 2025, the hall at the Ihusi Jerusalem Guest House buzzed with dynamic exchanges among producers from KACCO’s various intervention zones. Led by trainers Aimé Mihigo and Asi Kasigwa, the training enabled participants to understand the key role of the CEP (Farmer Field School) as a participatory learning framework that fosters observation and collective decision-making.
Discussions focused on fertility cycles, essential nutrients (N, P, K), and the use of compost-based organic fertilizers to maintain soil health. A second, hands-on day at Mr. Dieudonné Nabuloho’s model field in Munanira provided practical experience with composting techniques, coffee tree maintenance, and plant health assessment.
“This training allowed us to view our farming practices in a new light and to learn by experimenting together.” – A KACCO CEP participant
