KACCO is strengthening its agricultural monitors to ensure more digital and reliable data collection.

An initiative led in partnership with Talent Partnership and Root Capital to enhance digitalization and traceability within the cooperative; the organization is continuing to digitize its producer management and monitoring system through a capacity-building session for its agricultural field officers on the use of the digital tool KoboCollect, held at the cooperative's office in Munanira-Mbinga Sud/Kalehe.

The session took place at the KACCO office in the village of Munanira (Mbinga-Sud grouping, Kalehe territory) and was led by Ms. Marie-Rose Kalimba from Digital Business Intelligence (DBI).

This activity is part of a collaboration between KACCO, Talent Partnership, and Root Capital aimed at strengthening the cooperative's capabilities in data management, digitalization, and traceability.

KoboCollect: Bringing data collection closer to the field

During the training, agricultural extension officers were guided in mastering KoboCollect, a mobile solution for collecting and transmitting data directly from the field.

The training focused on using the application, entering information about producers and their farms, capturing geographic coordinates, and applying best practices to improve data quality and reliability.

The goal is to equip these extension officers—who serve as a vital link between KACCO and its member producers—with the skills needed to ensure structured, consistent, and reliable information gathering.

Reliable data for better decision-making

For KACCO, digitizing data collection represents far more than just a change of tools.

It enables a better understanding of the producer base, improves farm monitoring, allows for more thorough documentation of agricultural activities, and provides up-to-date information to guide the cooperative's decision-making.

The collected data also helps strengthen product traceability, tracking the journey from the producer and their plot through the stages of collection, processing, and marketing.

In a context where agricultural markets—particularly international ones—increasingly prioritize traceability, transparency, sustainability, and compliance, having reliable data is a strategic asset for a cooperative like KACCO. A collaboration driving digital transformation

This initiative highlights the importance of the collaboration between KACCO, Talent Partnership, Root Capital, and Digital Business Intelligence (DBI) in guiding the cooperative toward more modern, high-performance management systems.

By strengthening the capabilities of its field teams, KACCO is investing in an approach where technology, human skills, and data quality work together for the benefit of producers.

"Reliable data, collected at the right place and the right time, becomes a powerful tool for making better decisions and providing better support to producers."

This session marks a new milestone in KACCO’s digital transformation and its ambition to build a cooperative that is more connected, more transparent, and better prepared to meet the demands of modern agricultural markets.
