Thanks to the social impact fund generated from the sale of SURVIVORS COFFEE, Francine AMISI, a member of KACCO and the AVEC UMOJA solidarity group, obtained a microloan that enabled her to launch a fabric sales business at the Nyamukubi market. Today, this business contributes to her household's essential needs, including her children's education and healthcare. Her story demonstrates that every coffee purchase can tangibly transform the lives of farming families.
Testimonial: “Before, I was struggling to meet my family’s needs. Today, my business allows me to care for my children and contribute to our household expenses.” ” Francine AMISI is a member of KACCO and belongs to one of the 11 AVEC (Village Savings and Credit Association) solidarity groups that have benefited from the social impact fund generated through the sale of SURVIVORS COFFEE, the coffee produced by families affected by the Nyamukubi disaster. Thanks to a microloan obtained through her AVEC, Francine was able to invest in a small business: selling traditional cloth at the Nyamukubi market. This capital, though modest, enabled her to start an income-generating business and gradually strengthen her economic independence. Today, the income from this business helps her meet her household’s basic needs. In particular, she is able to contribute to her children’s school fees, healthcare costs, and other daily expenses for her family.
Francine’s story highlights a reality that is often hidden behind every cup of coffee: coffee is not merely an agricultural product or a commercial activity. It can become a true driver of resilience and social transformation. SURVIVORS COFFEE was born out of a difficult situation, but today it carries a message of hope.
Thanks to the buyers who choose to market this coffee, the value created goes beyond the purchase of the beans: it helps support producer families and fund initiatives that strengthen their ability to rebuild their future. Thank you to those who bring this impact to life KACCO extends its deepest gratitude to all buyers, roasters, and partners who help make a place for SURVIVORS COFFEE in their markets, notably Keynote / Assembly Coffee, PACT Coffee, and the other partners committed to supporting the producers. Every bag of SURVIVORS COFFEE sold helps create new stories like Francine’s. Behind every purchase is a producer. Behind every producer is a family. And behind every family is a future that we can help rebuild. Thank you for choosing coffee from Kalehe.
Thank you for helping turn coffee into opportunity, dignity, and hope.
